Incident: Degraded EU License Service Performance Date: July 27, 2026 Duration: Approximately 2 minutes (10:40–10:42 UTC) Status: Resolved
On July 27, 2026, at 10:40 UTC, one node in our EU region experienced an issue affecting Widevine, FairPlay, and PlayReady license requests. Traffic was automatically rerouted to healthy nodes, and service was fully restored by 10:42 UTC.
Access log analysis for the affected window (10:40:30–10:42:30 UTC) shows 2.3% of license requests experienced a client timeout while traffic failed over to healthy nodes. The affected node was subsequently restarted and confirmed fully operational at 11:20 UTC.
The issue originated with our cloud infrastructure provider, where a production server became unreachable. We identified the problem through automated monitoring, restarted the affected node, and confirmed traffic had fully returned to normal within minutes.
We opened a support case with our provider to investigate further. They confirmed the issue on their end and reported steps taken to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Automated monitoring detected the node issue and rerouted traffic to healthy nodes within 2 minutes
Our on-call team confirmed the issue and restarted the affected node, fully restoring it to service by 11:20 UTC
We engaged our infrastructure provider, who acknowledged the root cause and confirmed mitigation steps
Alongside the provider's remediation, we are making the following improvements to reduce the impact of any similar event in the future:
Reducing failover time so traffic reaches healthy infrastructure faster when a node issue occurs
Improving internal logging so retried requests during a failover are fully visible to our monitoring, giving us faster and more precise diagnosis in future incidents
We take service reliability seriously and apologize for any disruption this may have caused. If you have any questions about this incident or its impact on your account, please reach out to Axinom support.
